What is ‘new literacies’?
‘New literacies’ could also be termed ‘digital literacies’. This means “technical stuff” (explained in ‘Discussing New Literacies’ Michele Knobel and Colin Lankshear). This encompasses digital literacies such as messaging, emailing, blogging, skyping, twittering, gaming and many other forms of communicating. With the development in technology we are now able to communicate across cities, countries and continents instantly. This has lead to our world becoming more connected with the ability to ‘stay to in-touch’ and communicate.
